Biography

Sharleene Olivier is currently completing a final art history theory module in order to obtain a multimedia degree through UNISA.  I lives in Johannesburg and makes art whilst juggling the roles homemaker, wife, mother and career woman.

Artist Statement

“Contemporary art practise seems to focus on conceptual level.  In trying to incorporate this in my personal art practise I find I often get caught up in the method of creating the artwork and exploiting the medium in ways which are not immediately obvious to me.  Currently I am experimenting with a thick layering impasto effect with the paint onto canvas to build an image before layering oil paint over the textured surface to highlight the textures.”
