Biography

Allen Kupeta is a professional visual artist who was born in 1979. He received his artistic education at Vega, Sandton and has participated in various exhibitions since 1999. These exhibitions include: Young Artist (1999), Black like me (2000) Mukuyu group exhibition (2001) Black like me (2002) and the Krugersdorp art festival. He has also been awarded various prizes for his art creations such as first place for the Raphael Mural Art Competition (2006) and the award for emerging artist at the black like me exhibition (2010). Allen’s medium of choice is Acrylic paint on canvas.

Artist Statement

“My style has been classified as being painterly and almost impressionistic as I tend to leave visible brushstrokes amongst the broken up colours on the textured canvas, which all blend together to form an image when viewed from the right distance.”
